Audition Required
Advanced Students 12 years and up are chosen by audition. Students selected will be given further opportunities to grow and progress in a company atmosphere. Dancers will have the unique opportunity of learning repertoire, working with choreographers and master teachers. Being a member of UMB II is a full-year commitment. The students will be involved in various performing opportunities including all of Utah Metropolitan Ballet productions. UMB II has also had the opportunity to tour to Europe and take part in the International Young Tanzsommer Festival in Innsbruk Austria, and a cultural exchange program, performing in Bejing China. From this division, all of UMB II students are mentored through the audition processes as they continue to further their studies at a University program, or auditioning for a professional company to have a career in the dance world. Many of UMB II dancers are offered positions with Utah Metropolitan Ballet’s professional company.
Performances
Utah Metropolitan Ballet II company members will have the opportunity to perform in all of Utah Metropolitan Ballet productions. Performances will include the Nutcracker and other full-length productions including: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Legend of Timpanogos, Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Coppelia, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan, and Snow White. UMBII will also perform in a Repertory Concert. UMBII dancers are also involved in performing in JSB’s Contemporary Company performance each Spring.
Contemporary Groups
Dancers that have been selected to our Contemporary Groups will have the opportunity to participate in accelerated classes of hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary ballet to help broaden their dance experience. Students will be able to work with wonderful professionals throughout the year in master classes and learn original choreography.
