Hallie Jo Johnson began her classical ballet training at the age of eight at Jacqueline’s School of Ballet, where she studied under Jacqueline Colledge, Heather Gray, and Brittnee Squires. By twelve, she was invited to join Utah Metropolitan Ballet II (UMB II), performing original works by Heather Gray, Brittnee Squires, and Ariel Wright, including some of her favorites: On Cue, Passages, La Fille, Cortex, and Revolve.
Hallie Jo’s talent has been recognized on both national and international stages. From 2017–2022, she consistently placed in the top three at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Salt Lake City semifinals in both Contemporary and Classical variations, and was invited to the YAGP Finals each year, reaching the final round in 2021. She also placed in the top 12 at the World Ballet Competition in 2017 and 2019.
Her dedication has earned her scholarships to prestigious summer programs, including The School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Jacqueline’s School of Ballet. In 2020, Hallie Jo was invited to join Utah Metropolitan Ballet as an apprentice, and in 2022 she became a full company Artist.
Hallie Jo is excited to continue sharing her artistry and passion for dance in the upcoming season with Utah Metropolitan Ballet.
